Hey! Great article, bought me some stuff for around the house on Temu. If you buy things which are expected not to last or you do not rely on, go for it. Life supporting items you buy on Temu will become life threatening. But then again, if you buy such things on there you’re a melon to begin with.

Their site shows one product with a price. If you are not careful, this is almost always a bait and switch. The product shown in the cover pic is NOT the one with the cover pic price. So they may show a hot glue gun and the price $2.79. If you click, it is NOT the glue gun for that price but 10 glue sticks. This extra pricing can be just about color: they show a pen and the price of say 99 cents; inside, the pen comes in 10 colors only one is .99 the rest are 2.99. Also their promotions are misleading and often rigged: it will seem like your getting something easily — if you open the small tab of “rules” you find 10 pages of legalese that makes it very hard to get the “simple” reward. Watch out too for misleading sizes: they show pix where an object seems normal/ standard of the industry sized but will arrive 1/4 the expected size (in one of 10 pix given there will be a size indication but revealed only if you get to that pic and enlarge the pic. Also quality is often garbage. Descriptions are misleading. Finally shipping is poor — your whole oder will be thrown into an unprotected plastic bag – so objects have crushed each other or been hurt in shipment. AVOID TEMU.

Such a shame to see that you’ve had such poor experiences with Temu, it’s been the complete opposite for us. Yes, they do tend to bend the rules of reality a little with the names of their products, the images they use, and even the specifications they give. But what we’ve found is that it almost becomes a fun game to play! We found this article where you would get a statue of a crocodile (has since been taken down of course) that looked like quite the steal! Not even 3$ for quite a sizeable piece, but only after actually having paid attention to the fine print, we found that it indeed wasn’t much bigger than your pinky.
So whilst I wholeheartedly agree with you that they could be more transparent with their marketing, I wouldn’t condemn the whole site, only some experiences.
